Lubor Gaal is an experienced industry executive with close to 30 years of experience working in pharma or biotech companies. Since 2022, he has been working for Circio and played an instrumental role in the transformation of the company to becoming a leader in circRNA biology leveraging the natural biogenesis to create superior protein expression to be used in gene or cell therapy. Under his leadership, Circio has entered into more than 10 collaborations in 2026 and is seeking additional partnerships to complement its technology or expand into new uses. He is also Managing Director for BioPharma Drug Licensing Group (BDLG) where he worked for clients such as Locust Walk, a global life science boutique investment bank and various biotech companies in the CNS, oncology and immunology space. At Locust Walk, Dr Gaal was responsible for overseeing all European strategic transactions, including financing, M&A and licensing. Before BDLG, he was Head of External Innovation and Licensing (BD) and a member of the R&D Management Committee at Almirall, and Head of Search and Evaluation Europe for neuroscience, fibrosis and genetic disorders for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Prior to that, Dr Gaal held executive management positions at biotech companies Neuro3d (CNS) and Vectron Therapeutics, and global business development roles at Bayer Pharma. Dr Gaal has a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from the UC Berkeley, USA and a B.Sc. in Neurosciences from U. of Sussex, UK. Dr. Lubor Gaal is a Belgian citizen and resides in Spain.
