Malgorzata Gonciarz is Global Head of xRNA Therapeutics, overseeing global teams and driving strategy and execution to advance the oligonucleotide portfolio across cardiometabolic, neurodegenerative, and renal diseases. She brings 17 years of pharmaceutical experience spanning drug discovery and development, with a strong record of advancing novel therapeutic candidates toward clinical development. Prior to joining Novartis, she built her career at Eli Lilly in Biotechnology Discovery Research, applying expertise in protein engineering, structural biology, and biophysical characterization to advance multiple therapeutic modalities. During her tenure at Lilly, she led cross-functional teams from early discovery through clinical proof-of-concept, contributing to pipeline progression across several therapeutic areas, including ASCVD, diabetes, pain, and neurodegeneration. In 2019, she joined Lilly’s Genetic Medicine organization, where she led multidisciplinary teams focused on the discovery and development of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics. As an RNA platform leader, she set strategic direction, built critical capabilities, and led agile teams to rapidly advance oligonucleotide therapeutics, including initiatives to enable delivery beyond the liver.
