Profile

Mike is a strategic and scientific leader who shapes Sail’s R&D and partnership strategy — he partners with the CEO, CMO, and COO to bridge pioneering science and corporate development to drive innovation across the company’s Endless RNA medicines pipeline.A cancer geneticist by training, Mike brings over 17 years of experience spanning circular RNA/mRNA, CRISPR-Cas9 and base editing, and in vivo / ex vivo cell therapy modalities. Prior to Sail, he held senior leadership roles at Intellia Therapeutics, where he led the ex vivo cell therapy portfolio and delivered key DC & IND-enabling milestones. At KSQ Therapeutics, he helped build a scalable CRISPR-based target discovery platform and advanced a portfolio of oncology programs. At Merck, Mike led the mutant IDH1 small-molecule program and served as the translational science lead for the MK-2206 and MK-8628 Clinical Development Teams.An accomplished scientist with multiple Nature and Cell publications, Mike co-invented patents on gene-edited therapies and holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Baylor College of Medicine, with postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute (MIT) as an American Cancer Society Fellow.
