Profile

As Head of JLABS, San Diego, Nick is responsible for setting the strategy and overseeing all operational activities of JLABS in San Diego. Nick joined Johnson & Johnson Innovation from the West North America Regional Team where he supported both Discovery, Product Development and Supply for Janssen, and Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Device businesses.

Nick originally joined Johnson & Johnson Innovation in a New Ventures role supporting Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Device businesses, which included time on JJDC’s subcommittee for early-stage investments. During this tenure, he successfully completed numerous R&D Collaborations and Equity Investments.

Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Nick served as PARC's Director of Global Healthcare Innovation and as the Xerox Innovation Group’s Healthcare Program Manager. Nick’s passion for helping entrepreneurs stems from his own start-up experience, which includes founding companies in orthopedics, cardiology, and radiation oncology. He was the Founder of Akros Medical (acquired by Johnson & Johnson), CEO of Tarsus Medical (acquired by Integra Life Sciences), Founder and CEO of Acumen Medical (acquired by Medtronic), and Founder of Siris Medical. Siris developed the first 510(k) cleared AI/ML-based clinical decision support software for external beam radiation treatment planning.

Nick earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University where he was the John B. Simpson Biomedical Innovation Technology Fellow in the inaugural year of Stanford's Biodesign Fellowship Program. He also received his AB in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College and a BE from Dartmouth’s Thayer School.
