This session will explore a hypothetical emergency response scenario, focusing on how ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors become evident in accidents. We will also discuss strategies for effectively identifying and managing these factors during response efforts.

• Assessment of current training methodologies and gaps in preparing maritime personnel for emergency scenarios.
• Presentation of innovative training approaches, such as simulation exercises, virtual reality training, and scenario-based learning.
• Overview of the DPA's role in overseeing emergency preparedness and response procedures.

Building from the session before lunch, in collaboration with Skuld, SMIT Salvage will present a comprehensive overview of the project and offer valuable insights into the complexities of large-scale wreck removal projects and the multi-faceted approach required for their successful execution.

In this session, delegates will hear a brief explanation how airbags are deployed effectively in salvage operations including the advantages, challenges and limitations. Martin and Borja will use a case study to illustrate various elements of the session: Refloating and towage of the FV Santa Ana and FV Serenin with airbags. The case study will look at the similarities and differences, the similarity of the vessels, why they both sunk in the same area 10 years apart and why two different Ardentia teams used the same methodology.

In an exciting first for Seatrade Maritime Salvage & Wreck, the audience will be transported into the world of parliamentary style debate. The motion: “This house believes... ”

The audience, naturally divided on opinion, will here from a series of speakers who will try to convince them that they should be for or against the motion. There will be three speakers on each side of the argument, each with a strict seven-minute window to convince the audience. At the end, the audience will vote to see which side of the argument has the majority.
