Melis is an Executive Director at Howden heading marine claims team in London since 2024. She has over 20 years of experience in handling complex and high-value marine claims with a prior background in shipping.

Melis received her BA in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2002 and completed her Masters in Shipping, Trade and Finance at City University in 2003. Melis started her career in London with HSBC Insurance Brokers in 2004. She later joined BMS Group in 2008 where she had the role of servicing and managing Liability, Hull and Cargo claims as the Claims Director until 2023.

In addition to her current role at Howden as Head of Marine Claims in London, she is the Chairperson of the LIIBA Marine Claims Sub-Committee and is a qualified Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Associate Member of the Association of Average Adjusters.
