James Lapushner is the founder and CIO of Anacott Capital and has a 25-year successful track record of starting and building real estate capital markets and operating businesses focused on Principal Investing, Debt & Equity Capital Markets, and Distressed Debt.
Prior to founding Anacott Capital, Mr Lapushner was the Managing Director and the Head of the German Real Estate Private Equity business at Morgan Stanley (MSREF) where he was responsible for the strategy and execution of Acquisitions, Finance and Asset Management. At Morgan Stanley, Mr Lapushner invested over €2bn of equity, created the largest commercial real estate company in Germany with over €12bn of AuM, and created Argoneo, the largest asset management company in Germany with over 55 professionals.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr Lapushner was the Head of European Loan Origination at Credit Suisse (formerly DLJ), where he created one of the top 3 loan origination businesses and the first conduit program in Germany with over €3bn of financing in 2005. He underwrote, syndicated and securitised over €10bn of real estate debt in Europe, the United States, and Canada. Mr Lapushner commenced his career as a real estate attorney at Arnold & Porter (formerly Kaye Scholer LLP).
Mr Lapushner received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University and his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Rutgers University. Mr Lapushner also studied law at Leiden University, Netherlands.
