Ali Miraj is an infrastructure financier, broadcaster, political commentator and DJ. He is Global Lead of Infrastructure Sponsor Coverage at ING, having previously led transactions in infrastructure finance for many years and also worked across multiple deals in the TMT, Transportation and Energy sectors in Syndicated Finance. He originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
He presents his own show on LBC, the largest commercial talk radio station in the UK, and regularly appears on Sky News to comment on domestic political developments and international affairs. In 2012, he founded the Contrarian Prize to recognise the independence, courage and sacrifice of British public figures whose ideas challenge the status quo. A former Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, he was first elected as a Councillor at the age of 23. He served as an adviser to the Conservative Foreign Affairs Team from 2001-2003 and as a Board Member of the party’s Policy Commissions on Quality of Life and International and National Security (2005-2007).
He is a trained House music DJ and has had multiple residencies and played at leading venues around the world. He is national Vice President of CPRE, the countryside charity and Middle Warden and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers. He holds an MSc In Politics of the World Economy and BSc Econ (International Relations) both from the London School of Economics.
