Profile
Benjamin Baumann is a Partner of Mercer Alternatives and mainly responsible for leading the continued growth of Mercer's discretionary secondary investments. In his portfolio management role, he is also a member of various Alternatives Rating Review Committees and Mercer Alternatives’ Investment Committees. Benjamin also serves as CIO of Mercer Alternatives AG (based in Zurich), the delegated Investment Manager of Mercer's Alternatives solutions implemented in Luxembourg.
Prior to joining Mercer, from 2004 until 2015, Benjamin worked at Strategic Capital Management AG (“SCM”, since the beginning of 2015, part of Mercer’s Investments business), where he was responsible for broader private market investments across due diligence, research, analytics, implementation and sales. Previously, he was working in Switzerland and abroad for KPMG and Merck KGaA.
He is fluent in German, English, Portuguese, and Spanish and holds a Master’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He also studied at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain and is a CAIA Charterholder.
