Islam Shawky is the CEO and Co-Founder of Paymob, one of the leading financial technology companies in the MENA region. Since founding the company in 2015, he has led its evolution from a local startup into a regional payments infrastructure player serving more than 390,000 merchants across multiple markets.

With a background in engineering from The American University in Cairo, Islam approaches fintech with a systems mindset, focused on solving structural gaps in digital payments across emerging economies. Under his leadership, Paymob built an omnichannel infrastructure that enables businesses to accept over 60 payment methods across online, in-store, and mobile channels.

Islam has driven the company’s regional expansion into the GCC, securing key regulatory licenses and positioning Paymob as a trusted partner for enterprises, SMEs, and digital-first brands alike. His vision centers on enabling merchants to scale confidently, bridging the gap between financial innovation and real commercial impact across the region.
