Kirk is Founder and Managing Partner of Mt. Vernon Partners, a Washington DC based Merchant Bank that invests in and advises both operating companies and sponsors. Prior to founding Mt. Vernon Partners, Kirk was a partner with Mercury Capital Advisors, the former global placement agent for Merrill Lynch. Kirk served as a Director in Merrill Lynch’s Hedge Fund Development and Management Group focusing on worldwide private placement of alternatives as well as Director and Head of Capital Introduction in Merrill Lynch’s Global Equity Finance and Services Group, which he helped start. He previously served as COO and Executive Vice President for Hovde Capital Advisors, an alternative investment platform focusing on financial institutions. Kirk founded and later sold Hedgecall.com, an alternative investment online marketplace for funds and investors seeded by Intel Capital Group, Safeguard Scientific, and Paine Webber.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and Economics from Florida State University and a master’s degree in international Economic Integration from the University of Birmingham (U.K.). Kirk is the founder of the No Greater Sacrifice Foundation, (‘NGS”) whose nationwide mission is dedicated to advancing the higher education of the children of America’s fallen and wounded service members. Kirk served as a Trustee to the Board of the Florida State University Foundation and the Board of Governors of the Florida State University School of Business.
