Michael Biel is State Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises in Berlin. He holds a diploma in political science from Freie Universität Berlin. Biel has extensive experience in the German Bundestag, where he worked in several leading positions from 2004 to 2021 for various members of parliament. In December 2021, Biel was appointed State Secretary. In 2023, he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives. Biel was reappointed State Secretary for Economic Affairs once again in April 2023 and in this process he gave up his mandate as a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. Biel is, among other board mandates, chairman of the supervisory board of WISTA, Germanys largest technology parc in Berlin-Adlershof.
