Profile

Philip Tsai is Global Head and a Managing Director of UBS Investment Bank's Secondary Advisory Team and is based in New York. He has advised numerous holders of private equity on their liquidity options, including leading public and private pension plan programs, endowments, financial institutions and insurance companies, and general partners on secondary liquidity solutions for their funds. He joined UBS in 2001 to make strategic investments for the firm and, as a member of the Third Party Private Equity Funds Team, he managed a $2.0 billion portfolio of funds and executed a $1.3 billion joint venture between UBS and HarbourVest Partners called Tresser, L.P. Prior to UBS, Phil made early-stage investments with Telligent Capital, a venture capital firm based in New York. Prior to that, he made private equity investments throughout Asia with Newbridge Capital in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he analyzed proposed mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and leveraged buyouts in the Mergers, Acquisitions and Restructuring Department at Morgan Stanley. Phil graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and earned his MBA at Harvard Business School.
