Youssef Aroub is Managing Director, Sustainable Investing at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO). In this capacity, Youssef leads all aspects of sustainability incorporation across IMCO’s CAD 86 billion portfolio, including overseeing IMCO’s climate action plan such as its portfolio net zero and climate investments targets, leading research on topics including the clean energy transition, natural capital and climate scenarios, and managing IMCO’s sustainability strategy from due diligence to value creation efforts with investee companies.
Youssef brings a decade of experience in consulting and operational roles, including leading strategic projects at BCG with investors and industrial companies on climate investment themes, decarbonization levers, ESG due diligences, digital enablement, and operational value creation. Youssef’s previous experience also includes managing teams in operations at Rolls-Royce in the energy and aerospace divisions. Most recently, Youssef served in a leadership role at BCG's Centre for Canada's Future, helping shape a national agenda around Net-Zero across key industries. He also led research on topics including critical minerals, EV supply chain, carbon credits, green premiums, climate tech, climate scenarios, and headed a multi-company project to define Net-Zero pathways for agriculture.
Youssef is a thought leader on key climate and sustainability topics and has co-authored three flagship publications including RBC's "The Next Green Revolution: How Canada can produce more food and fewer emissions", BCG's "Climate Tech: The Canadian Venture Opportunity" and "Canada has an EV edge, if it acts now". Youssef holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
