Akihiko Yasuda is a Managing Director of Asia Alternatives. Mr. Yasuda leads and is based in Asia Alternatives’ Hong Kong office. Mr. Yasuda is on the Firm’s Investment Committee. Mr. Yasuda co-leads the Firm’s investments in Japan, Korea and Australia and co-leads Asia Alternatives’ investments in buyouts, secondaries and special situations.

Mr. Yasuda has over 30 years of professional experience in the areas of corporate finance, leveraged finance, real estate finance, fixed income investing and private equity investing. Prior to joining Asia Alternatives, Mr. Yasuda was most recently an Executive Director and Head of Private Equity at the Sumitomo Trust Finance (H.K.) Limited, an investment advisory arm of The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co., Ltd. Mr. Yasuda managed the global private equity fund investment advisory group in Hong Kong for the bank’s pension clients as well as the parent bank proprietary investments.

From 2003-2007, Mr. Yasuda was Director at CITIC Capital Partners (“CITIC Capital”), a private equity arm of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited. At CITIC Capital, Mr. Yasuda worked in the Tokyo and Shanghai offices as one of the core founding members for the firm’s first private equity fund. He also served on the Board of Directors for Pokka Corporation, a leading Japanese beverage company and one of CITIC Capital’s portfolio companies.

Mr. Yasuda received an M.B.A. from Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley and holds a Bachelor in Economics from Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan. He is fluent in Japanese.

Mr. Yasuda currently sits on the Advisory Boards for several of Asia Alternatives’ Japanese, Korean, Australian, Pan Asia and Special Situations private equity funds. In addition, he serves as Co-Chair of the LP Committee and sits on the Education & Research Committee of the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HKVCA).
