Mr BUSHIMATA Ryusuke is a director at the Research Division & Legal Office of the International Bureau of the Ministry of Finance, Japan (“MOF”) since July 2022 and an attorney at law admitted in Japan. Along with other experts of the MOF and other ministries, he is responsible for foreign direct investment (“FDI”) screening and monitoring, collaboration with foreign governments and international organizations on FDI as well as the public promotion of Japan's FDI policies. Soon after he was called to the bar in December 2014, Mr Bushimata joined the Tokyo office of Anderson Mori & Tomotsune (“AMT”), one of Japan’s largest law firms. As a member of AMT’s Economic Security and Trade Practice Group, he represented clients on several M&A and finance transactions and advised investors in the world on FDI regulation. He also represented clients on cross-border financial disputes and legal proceedings such as restructuring and bankruptcy filings, litigation and arbitration cases while he worked for AMT as well as when he was seconded to the Hong Kong office of Ogier LLP.

Mr Bushimata received a LL.B. from the University of Tokyo in March 2007 and a J.D. from the University of Tokyo School of Law (“UTSL”) in March 2013. He was an editor of the University of Tokyo Law Review at the UTSL. He also studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science where he obtained in-depth knowledge and experience regarding European and British law and received a LL.M. in December 2020.
