Profile

Damir Illich is an accomplished life science investment professional with over a decade of experience in the sector. He currently holds the position of Manager, Life Sciences at CE-Ventures, where he leverages his extensive background to drive evidence-based investments in early-stage biopharmaceutical companies developing novel therapeutics and support portfolio companies. CE-Ventures invests across several target indications, such as oncology and immunological diseases, with a special interest in the microbiome field.

Prior to his current role, Damir managed the life science investment activities at a large family office in Zurich, Switzerland. In this capacity, he oversaw a diverse biotech portfolio and led numerous investments in the biotech space from initial sourcing through to successful closing and post-investment board-level support. Damir's expertise in the field is further underscored by his role as a Board Member (Observer) at five portfolio companies, where he contributed his insights to foster growth and innovation.

Damir's professional journey also encompasses extensive experience in investment advisory roles across M&A, asset and company valuations, and commercial and vendor due diligence in the biopharma industry for both buy-side and sell-side engagements. He has advised top-tier global private equity and venture capital firms, and major pharmaceutical companies while working at esteemed organizations such as Iqvia, PwC, and Deloitte across the UK, Germany, and Switzerland.

Damir holds a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the prestigious Max-Planck Institute, and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
