Profile

As Chief Investment Officer, Sean is responsible for managing the wealth of the YBA Kanoo Family in Bahrain. The family has a large portfolio investing across all asset classes globally. He has previously worked at Mercer as a Principal, providing investment advice to institutional clients in the Middle East. Sean advised Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds, Family Offices and Endowments across the region on strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction across both public and private markets and local and global markets.

Sean was also the Chief Investment Officer at Sabban Holdings Limited (a Single-Family Office in Dubai) where he managed the assets of a Saudi Family which were invested globally in both liquid and private markets. He is an experienced investor in all asset classes and has detailed knowledge of third-party fund managers.

Sean has worked in the Middle East for 20+ years, at Emirates NBD Asset Management where he was Head of Multi-Asset Investments, at the Gulf Investment Corporation in Kuwait, (where he was responsible for Hedge Fund and Private Equity investments) and at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) in the mid-1990s. He has also worked in the UK and USA in asset management (AVIVA Investors managing US equity portfolios) and as a consultant (MSCI and AON). At AON he advised UK Pension Funds on asset allocation and manager selection and also held a manager research role focusing on equity managers and hedge funds.

Sean is a Member of the CFA Society in Bahrain and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School.
