Dan Ballen is a General Partner at Portage Capital Solutions. Dan is responsible for co-leading growth equity, structured equity and special situations investments in financial technology and financial services companies globally, as well as driving the fund’s overall strategy. Dan is based in New York.

Dan has spent nearly twenty years in various private equity, structured equity and special situations investing roles targeting the financial services, fintech and real estate technology sectors. Prior to Portage, Dan served as a Senior Portfolio Manager at PIMCO, where he led a team focused on private equity and structured equity investments for the firm’s alternatives franchise in both the US and Europe. Earlier in his career, Dan was a member of the investment teams at Bain Capital and Pine Brook Partners, partnering with growing companies across several sectors.

Dan has served as a Board member for a wide range of public and private companies in the US and Europe and was named to M&A Advisor’s “Emerging Leaders” list, as well as GrowthCap’s “40 Under 40” list of growth equity investors.

Dan received a Bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Emory University.
