Kirk is the founder and Managing Partner for Mt. Vernon Capital, a boutique merchant bank located in Washington, DC. Mt. Vernon works with operating companies and fund managers with capital formation, commercial growth and political strategy while typically taking fees and investing with their clients. Previous to founding Mount Vernon Partners, Kirk was a partner with Mercury Capital Advisors, the former global placement agent for Merrill Lynch. Kirk had merged his prior firm, Mt. Vernon Group, an alternative investment placement agent, with Mercury Capital Advisors. Prior to Mercury, Kirk helped run origination and placement in Merrill Lynch’s Hedge Fund Development and Management Group focusing on worldwide private placement of alternatives. He was also Global Head of U.S. Capital Introduction in Merrill Lynch’s Global Equity Finance and Services Group, which he helped start. He previously served as COO and Executive Vice President for Hovde Capital Advisors, a financial services focused asset manager with both private equity and hedge fund offerings which were grown to $1.5B. Kirk founded and later sold Hedgecall.com, seeded by Intel Capital Group, Safeguard Scientific, and Paine Webber. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and Economics from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in International Economic Integration from the University of Birmingham (U.K.). Kirk is the founder of the No Greater Sacrifice Foundation, (‘NGS”) whose nationwide mission is dedicated to advancing the higher education of the children of America’s fallen and wounded service members. Rostron served as a Trustee to the Board of the Florida State University Foundation and the Board of Governors of the Florida State University School of Business.
