Paul leads Google’s global private equity efforts, working with private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies to accelerate business transformation and value creation through Google’s cloud, AI, data, productivity, and infrastructure capabilities. His work sits at the intersection of private equity, enterprise technology, AI, and operating transformation. Over the past 25+ years, Paul has had the opportunity to experience the private equity ecosystem from multiple angles: as a co-founding Managing Director of the SoftBank Asia Infrastructure Fund, as a three-time CEO of portfolio companies, and as a builder of private-equity-focused teams and programs at AWS, OpenAI, and now Google. Earlier in his career, Paul was GM with Samsung’s global telecom division in Seoul, Korea, where he helped lead the company’s expansion into international markets. He originally joined Samsung as a founding member of the Global Strategist Group, reporting to the Chairman’s Office and leading strategy teams on global branding, digital media convergence, consumer electronics value innovation, and M&A initiatives. Mr Zimmerman holds a B.A.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. Paul is Directorship Certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors.
