Helen Gurfel leads Sustainability and Innovation at CBRE Investment Management (CBRE IM), where she drives the firm’s sustainability strategy across its global real assets investment platform. As a member of the Executive Committee, Helen integrates sustainability through the investment lifecycle, from product design and capital-raising to asset-level execution strategies, all aligned with long-term value creation.
Prior to CBRE IM, Helen served as Managing Director at LENX, Lennar Corporation’s venture group, where she helped develop the firm’s venture capital investment strategy. She previously led the Urban Land Institute’s Greenprint Center for Building Performance, advancing best practices for a global network of real estate owners and investors. Earlier in her career, Helen held roles at PwC, and GE Capital, where she helped launch GE Real Estate’s sustainability strategy and advised GE Energy Financial Services on energy tech investments.
Helen holds a B.S. from Columbia University, an M.A. in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School. She is a member of ULI’s Technology Council, sits on the GRESB Standards Committee, and serves on the board of the Columbia Engineering Alumni Association.
