Julian Roche began his career with the UK MoD as an analyst and modeler. He subsequently joined the mainstream Civil Service fast stream, joining a team that negotiated the first series of PPP deals.
He then returned to the private sector, first as an economic macro and energy analyst and then a divisional forecasting head for the companies that subsequently became Global Insight.
After having worked on a range of commodity and energy derivative contracts for the London Commodity Exchange, in 1991 he set up his own consultancy, developing a particular expertise in infrastructure development, project finance and since 2010, renewable energy, where he has advised institutions including banks, project developers, sovereign wealth funds and other government institutions worldwide, including the World Bank and export credit agencies such as ECGD, in addition to advising private sector organizations in negotiations with governments and other off-takers.
