Profile

Curtis graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a BA in the Hospitality and Tourism program and a minor in Economics. Immediately upon graduation, he was hired by Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts as part of their global management recruitment program. For the next several years, Curtis progressed and was promoted in management positions in both Food & Beverage and Rooms Divisions achieving Executive Committee level. He was then recruited by Delta Hotels & Resorts as Director, Rooms Division for the 1,594-room Delta Chelsea Hotel Toronto where he oversaw eight departments with roughly 250 employees.

Since 2003, Curtis has been a lead hotel broker in Canada completing over $3 billion in investment sale, debt financing and advisory mandates on some of the most prominent hotels in the country and setting sale records in several cases. He is a licensed real estate professional and mortgage broker and had been Principal Broker of the structured finance group at another global real estate firm prior to joining Avison Young. His client list ranges from large institutional investors such as Ivanhoe Cambridge, bcIMC, Morguard and Cadillac Fairview to private equity firms including Starwood Capital Group, TPG Capital, Barney River Investments and Geolo Capital. Curtis is a frequent university guest lecturer and regularly contributes to industry media and investment conferences.
