Fred Pane is currently Vice President, Pharmacy Services, Capstone Health Alliance, a regional purchasing group (RPG) of 240 acute care hospitals and over 10,000 non-acute entities. He is addressing today’s evolving Healthcare Ecosystem, including Population Health and Value Based Care, supporting member hospitals and their mission for patient care, including clinical, operational, and financial improvement across acute and non-acute care. His diverse background allows him to see healthcare delivery and challenges, through many lenses and apply his experience. Experience includes, PhRMA Industry, GPO Premier Inc., and numerous Hospital Pharmacy Leadership positions including Administrator of Pharmacy Services, Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHN), Allentown, Pa. where he led Enterprise Pharmacy Operations, provided Pharmacy Leadership for an Accountable Care Organization (ACO), and was appointed Chair, P and T Committee, a Medical Staff Committee, developing an Evidence Based Formulary.
Fred received his BS Pharmacy from St. John’s University, School of Pharmacy, attended Leadership Programs in Pharmacy and Health Care Leadership, Univ. of Pa. Wharton School, and Thunderbird/Mid-Western University. He is a Fellow of The American Society of Health-system Pharmacy (FASHP) and completed a 18-month Healthcare Leadership Fellowship, with Advisory Board Company (FABC), focused on evolving Healthcare Ecosystems and Healthcare Leadership.
He provides input to HSCA (Healthcare Supply Chain Association), American Hospital Association (AHA), American Society of Health-system Pharmacy (ASHP), addressing today’s issues that are impacting the Healthcare Ecosystem, including payers and is addressing drug shortages by engaging everyone involved in the Supply Chain. He has numerous publications including, the first article on “White Bagging” and “Value Based Contracting” and has presented at numerous industry and pharmacy conferences.
