Ahmed Al Amra is an experienced senior manager and strategist in green growth, climate action, and sustainable development with more than 19 years of experience, in advancing national planning frameworks, policy, research and training, institutional development and reforms, governance, and green investment and climate pipelines. He has been working with policymakers, business leaders, think tanks, academia, and officials at all levels of government.
Ahmed currently holds the position of the Country Representative of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in the United Arab Emirates, a Seoul-based international organisation with offices in the UAE and other member countries. He was appointed as Country Representative of GGGI in the UAE on July 1st ,2022. In his current role, Ahmed is responsible for leading GGGI’s efforts in the UAE, and strategically direct the country program to achieve the organisational and national visions, goals and objectives.
Previously, Ahmed served as a Program Director of the GGGI’s Bahrain Program between April 2020 and July 2022. In this role, he led GGGI’s green growth efforts in Bahrain, with a clear focus on advancing Bahrain’s Climate Change Adaptation planning framework. Also, in this role, Ahmed was responsible for supporting the efforts of GGGI’s geographical expansion in the region.
