Dr. Philipp Wree is responsible for the area of bioeconomy at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD. This area enables visual computing and AI technologies for effective and sustainable production in crops, peatlands, and livestock.
Philipp Wree holds a B.Sc. in Forestry and Forest Ecology from the University of Göttingen and an M.Sc. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2017, he earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from the Technical University of Munich.
He gained industry experience at Yara (a global leader in plant nutrition) as head of the laboratory and field and greenhouse trial department and supporting the global digitalization strategy.
Before joining the Fraunhofer in Rostock in 2022, Philipp Wree worked as a Senior Manager at EY in Business Consulting, focusing on the agriculture and food sector
