Simone Landhuis is a Dutch career diplomat with more than 20 years of international experience. In her previous posting she was serving as deputy ambassador at the Dutch Embassy in Kuwait.
Before she served as Regional Energy Envoy in Mexico, covering also the Greater Caribbean area. She also served in Venezuela, Russia and Nicaragua. In between, she had two assignments at the Ministry in The Hague at the International Enterprise Department and the Financial and Economic Affairs Department.
As from September 2023 she has been seconded to the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality as Agricultural Counsellor to the GCC countries. As head of the attachés office, she is based at the Dutch Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
