Profile
Dr. Vinay Nangia is Principal Scientist and Research Program Director for Soil, Water, and Agronomy at ICARDA, professor at Tottori University (Japan), and Global Fellow at University of Nebraska (USA). He holds a Ph.D. in Water Resources Management and master’s degrees in Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering and Geographic Information Science from the University of Minnesota. His leadership has advanced climate‑resilient water management, supported by over US$35 million in grants from AFESD, CFC, FAO, GIZ, IFAD, OFID, USAID, the World Bank, and several national governments. Dr. Nangia has produced more than 300 publications, including 125 peer‑reviewed articles, and has trained over 50 graduate students, post‑doctoral fellows, and visiting scientists worldwide. He serves on FAO WASAG, the UNCCD Drought IWG, and as ICARDA’s UNFCCC focal point, and is an advisory board member of GIWEH, a Geneva‑based water think tank.
