Alex MacKerell received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Rutgers University, followed by postdoctoral fellowships in Medical Biophysics, Karolinska Intitutet, Stockholm and in Chemistry, Harvard University. He is currently in the School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland where he is the Grollman-Glick Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Director of the Computer-Aided Drug Design Center, and co-founder and CSO of SilcsBio LLC
