Laura Privitera
Clinical Research Fellow and PhD Student at UCL GOS Institute of Child Health

After graduating in medicine in Italy in 2020, Dr Privitera started working as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Developmental Biology and Cancer Department at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Health, where she is currently developing her PhD project. Her work focuses on developing and testing the effectiveness of FGS to improve the visualization of primary solid paediatric tumours using cancer-specific injectable fluorescent probes in preclinical models. This project aims to translate FGS into the clinical environment to help the surgeon achieve a complete tumour resection and reduce injuries to surrounding major vessels and organs.
