Dr Jan Hoffmann received his medical degree and its Neurology training at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany. In addition to specialising for many years on the management and treatment of patients with headache and facial pain he conducted several years of preclinical research on the molecular mechanisms of trigeminal activation at the University of California in San Francisco (USA) and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany).
He is now based at King’s College London as Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Neurology. He is currently serving as an editorial board member for Cephalalgia and for the Journal or Orofacial Pain and Headache.
