Yuji Ito graduated from Kyushu University (Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences) in 1985 and received his doctor degree in 1993 from Kyushu University. After working as an assistant professor at Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Science in Kyushu University until 1997, he moved to Faculty of Engineering in Kagoshima University to join Prof. Sugimra’s group (Immunology) as an associate professor. He stayed at NCI-Frederick in 2003 as a Visiting Professor. In 2010, he was appointed as a full professor in Graduate school of Science and Engineering at Kagoshima University.

His research interest is in molecular designs of peptide and antibody for pharmaceutical use. His expertise is phage display techniques to design/isolate the functional peptide and antibody.

He is promoting a research project of “Development of a series of advanced functional antibody drugs using techniques of specific modification to human IgG antibody” (http://www.i-biomed.jp/en/subject/2014/06/) as a project leader in “Basic Science and Platform Technology Program for Innovative Biological Medicine” (2014-2018), supported by AMED (Japan).
