Dr. El Djouhar Rekaï serves as Director of Process & Analytical Development at the PolyPeptide site in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium. Originally from Paris, Dr. Rekaï earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, specializing in sugar chemistry, from Pierre and Marie Curie University in 1997. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in polymer chemistry at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) from 1998 to 1999.

In 2000, Dr. Rekaï began her career as a peptide R&D Chemist at UCB Bioproducts. Over the years, she developed a strong expertise in Scaling-up, Industrialization and Process Validation, ultimately taking on responsibility for end-to-end development and manufacturing processes overseeing all clinical phases—from R&D through commercial production—at PolyPeptide (formerly Lonza and UCB Bioproducts).
