Citi Commercial Bank
Citi Commercial Bank continues on an ambitious journey of digital transformation.
The increased importance of digital banking channels and services, combined with Citi’s investment in innovation, has resulted in several client-centric solutions and features being developed for the CitiBusiness Online digital platform.
The Report Builder feature was created to offer Commercial Banking clients with a first-time custom reporting functionality, historical transaction tracking, and balance retention capabilities.
Report Builder revolutionizes reporting by enabling users to customize how they access and view their transaction and balance data. As an added benefit, the simple-to-use interface allows users to save, name, and automate their custom report creations.
Report Builder’s reporting capability enhancements began in January 2021 and are still on-going. Report Builder is a unique digital initiative that provides a consolidated account view of all incoming and outgoing posted transactions, including check images. It features historical transaction data that goes back to June 1, 2018 (>4 years and growing!) and is stored in a specially developed Data Lake (data warehouse).
Clients experience the first-ever storage and reporting of historical balances with data going back to April 22, 2022. Clients can customize their reporting through multiple report criteria options, for one or multiple accounts at once, and specific data fields. Report Builder allows clients to save, name, and mark their favorite custom report criteria. Reports can be scheduled to automatically run and notify clients by email when they are ready to be downloaded via a secure download link.
Report Builder’s enhancements required a global project team (from the US, Canada, India, and China) and consisted of a product lead/owner, a tech business analyst, a tech development lead, a designer, and 2 QA/UAT testers.
All clients are entitled to access Report Builder and it has been noted that once users start using the reporting tool, they use it daily and become super users. Users have been leveraging the 4+ years of historical data available right at their fingertips and are performing urgent and time-sensitive account and specific transaction investigations. Many love the valuable access to 4+ years of check images (front and back with deposit slip images) and usage has more than doubled since its initial release. We see a trend of heavier use during the quarter end and more use of the scheduling feature for daily report generation.
As Report Builder gains additional reporting functionality, our main focus will continue to be around ease of use, self-service and on-demand historical data access. This is our differentiator and what makes us stand out in this account reconciliation and transactional data reporting space. As we grow our Report Builder reporting tool and the behind-the-scenes Data Lake data warehouse, Report Builder will eventually become “Reporting Central,” our main reporting hub for all information reporting needs.
