Dan is a Partner in the global law firm Orrick, where he heads up the London FinTech practice. He has spent over a decade advising innovative financial services businesses of all shapes and sizes on strategy and implementation of their responses to regulatory obligation.

Dan has unique experience of financial services and technology gained from time working at a magic circle law firm, one of the big four consulting firms and now a technology focused law firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. This has given him insight into the full spectrum of financial services firms from technology start-ups, with incredible ideas and technology but little capital, to many of the world’s largest financial institutions. Examples of this include: advising a global bank on development of its UK, digital only, banking service; helping one of the world’s most recognisable digital payments service providers with its Brexit strategy; and advising the Open Banking Implementation Entity as it developed guidelines around Open Banking. His clients currently include blockchain developers, crypto-exchanges and wallets, E-Money Institutions and both retail and investment banks.

Dan is passionate about the application of innovative ideas and technology to the banking and finance sector. He loves working on projects that empower users of financial services or solve issues with slow or outdated processes. He is excited to see what great ideas this year’s submissions will bring.
