The Royal Lancaster Hotel
Situated by Lancaster Gate on the north side of Hyde Park, the Royal Lancaster’s boasts classic mid-century architecture, built in the 1960’s.
The hotel was originally built to be the offices of the Rank Organisation (a huge British entertainment conglomerate of the 19th Century), but instead was opened as a hotel. During the 1960’s the UK Government was awarding £1,000 grants for every new hotel room built in London to meet accommodate new waves of tourists.
