Alessandra TonazziDirector, International and EU Relations Directorate at Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM)
Alessandra Tonazzi is the Director of International and European Affairs at the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) supervising and coordinating the work of the International Affairs Unit and European Affairs Unit.
Her current role involves identifying policy priorities and strategies for the international development of competition and consumer protection law and policy and developing policy papers which position the Authority’s strategy and achievements in international fora.
She represents the Authority in the relevant European institutions contributing to the development of European legislation on matters of institutional relevance.
She represents the Italian Competition Authority in high-level international meetings in the areas of competition and consumer protection policy, including at the OECD, ICN, UNCTAD and European Commission. From October 2012 to April 2013 she was seconded to the Competition Division of the OECD.
She coordinates international projects and bilateral cooperation programs on behalf of the Authority in cooperation with national competition authorities and international organization, including the World Bank Group, the OECD and the ICN
She is a member of the ICN Steering Group as ICN/UNCTAD liaison and co-chairs the ICN Cartel Working Group.
She authored several articles on antitrust issues. She regularly speaks at national and international conferences on competition law and policy.
She holds a PhD in Economic Analysis from the University of Rome and a MSc in Economics from Warwick University. She graduated in Law and Economics from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome.
