Tone Oeyen is a partner based in the Freshfields Brussels office, specialising in European competition law with a particular focus on cross-border investigations and merger control.
He has significant experience advising clients in the context of complex merger proceedings before the European Commission and other global authorities, including on the negotiation of remedies. Tone’s conduct practice covers anti-competitive behaviour in all areas, including issues relating to platforms and those raised by digital transformation generally. Tone has also successfully defended clients in cartel and State aid-related litigation before the European and Belgian courts.
A member of the Brussels bar, Tone studied law at the University of Ghent (Belgium) and holds an LL.M degree in Trade Regulation from the University of New York.
