The life sciences industry has always had one great meeting place, a few days in November where the deals get done, the partnerships form, and the direction of the industry quietly shifts. For more than three decades, that place has been BIO-Europe.

Bio-Europe is repositioning its annual conference to expand beyond its traditional partnering focus into what organisers describe as a broader biopharma strategy forum, aiming to bring together senior decision-makers across pharma, biotech and investment.

European biopharma faces an existential moment: adapt to new global realities or risk losing its innovation leadership.

Over three days, more than 32,000 meetings were facilitated between biotechs, pharma, venture capital, and industry service providers, with participants from more than 60 countries taking full advantage of their time in the Austrian capital to renew existing contacts and forge new ones.

There will be no return to normal for the European biopharma sector which needs to turn increasing macro-pressures into opportunities and become leaner and more efficient, experts at BIO-Europe said this week.
