Profile
Guido Mathews is Chief Business Officer at Phinomics, a Stanford spin-out from the laboratory of Nobel laureate Andrew Fire.
Standard sequencing largely cannot read extrachromosomal circular DNA. Phinomics measures it as the Circulome, at 100x the resolution of whole-genome sequencing. Its Deep Biology platform reads that against genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data from the same patients to find what makes a tumor vulnerable, why it stops responding, and the biomarkers that point to the right patients. Those data feed indication-specific knowledge graphs, built for frontier AI agents to query and mine.
Guido spent more than two decades at Bayer, most recently as VP Imaging, Data & AI. He founded Bayer's AI Innovation Platform in collaboration with Google. He co-developed and launched Calantic Digital Solutions and rebuilt Centafore into an imaging core lab. He assembled the AI2DEX consortium that ARPA-H later selected for its INDEX program.
At BIO-Europe 2026 he wants conversations with oncology pharma, frontier AI partners, and investors watching target discovery and patient stratification closely.
