Joana Simões Correia is a biotech executive and translational scientist with over a decade of leadership in extracellular vesicles and exosome-based therapeutics. As Co-Founder, CEO and CSO of Exogenus Therapeutics, she has led the development of proprietary umbilical cord blood-derived extracellular vesicles technologies from discovery through scalable manufacturing, preclinical validation, international IP protection, industrial partnerships and GMP-oriented development towards clinical translation.

Joana has received several entrepreneurship awards, including the Everis Foundation Award, the ANJE Young Entrepreneur Award and Prémio Empreendedor XXI BPI/CaixaBank. Under her leadership, Exogenus Therapeutics has secured significant R&D funding and established itself as a European biotech company focused on advancing extracellular vesicles-based therapeutic products for diseases with high unmet medical need.
