John leads the late stage and commercial business development group for all markets outside of the US. He is committed to finding partnerships that improve access to innovative treatments across a complex landscape of markets. His team has responsibility for all collaborations on the commercial side of the business with a focus on identifying, negotiating and implementing deals that drive near term growth, improve patient access to medicines and deliver operating efficiency within the MSD portfolio.

He has been with MSD for 27 years and over his career has held various leadership roles across the organization including; sales & marketing roles, leading the Global Commercial New Product Development Team, Global Pharma and Vaccine Strategy, corporate restructuring, US Business Development and for the last 5 years has been leading the ex-US Commercial Business Development team at MSD.

He attended Rutgers University and has a degree in economics. He was a Congressional Scholar and worked as a Legislative Aide in the United States House of Representatives after graduating; his focus was on key legislative issues such as Gun Control, Science & Technology and US Healthcare Reform. John and his wife Michelle, who also works for Merck, are based in Singapore and have two daughters 18 & 20 that keep them very busy.
