Markus Koester is Co-Lead of opnMe and Director Discovery Research Coordination at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he leads initiatives designed to connect external innovation with pharmaceutical R&D. As a founding member of opnMe, Boehringer's open innovation platform, he has helped build a global research community of more than 8,000 scientists across 87 countries and establish collaboration programs that link researchers, technologies, and ideas with real-world industry challenges. Through these efforts, he has supported partnerships that advance scientific discovery, foster talent engagement, and contribute to research pipeline innovation. Markus brings firsthand experience in building open innovation ecosystems that create value for both academia and industry.
