Mary Jane Masson Hinrichs, PhD, is a global pharmaceutical R&D executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning regulatory science, translational medicine, nonclinical safety, clinical development, portfolio strategy, and external innovation.
She is currently Senior Vice President, Head of Early Development, and Interim Head of Research & External Innovation at Ipsen, where she leads a global organization across the U.S., U.K., and France and oversees more than $100 million in annual R&D investment. In her role, she is responsible for advancing pipeline assets from discovery through early clinical development while also guiding research strategy, external innovation, and portfolio prioritization across rare diseases, oncology, and neuroscience.
Since joining Ipsen in 2019, she has played a central role in building the company's early development pipeline from inception to a diversified portfolio of assets spanning discovery through Phase 1.
Prior to Ipsen, she held leadership positions at AstraZeneca/MedImmune and served as a Pharmacology/Toxicology Reviewer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
She is recognized for her expertise in translational strategy, early clinical development, scientific due diligence, and portfolio governance.
