Michael has extensive experience at senior levels in the biotech industry, with the distinction of taking a public biotech company (Micrologix Biotech) from a concept to a pre-IND meeting with the FDA in about 3.5 years. He has also been an advisor to many companies, especially with his experience at the National Research Council of Canada in the IRAP program. His scientific discoveries include the identification of novel histone proteins (H2A.X and Z), which play vital roles in the repair and active regions of chromatin and the first use of adeno-associated virus (AAV) as an expression vector.
