Profile

Christian Eckermann is Corporate Senior Vice President of the BioPharma Network at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he leads the company’s global biopharmaceutical network and is responsible for end-to-end delivery of both internal pipeline products and external partners.

With more than 25 years of experience across biopharmaceutical research, development, manufacturing, and quality, he has a proven track record of building and leading high-performing, international organizations. In his current role, Christian drives innovation, digitalization, and continuous improvement across a global community of approximately 5,000 scientists, engineers, and operations professionals in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Previously, Christian served as Managing Director and SVP of BioXcellenceTM, Boehringer Ingelheim’s contract development and manufacturing business. BioXcellenceTM specializes in mammalian and microbial manufacturing, and aseptic filling. Under his leadership, the BioXcellenceTM business grew in average >10% per year and supported the launch of 9 customer products.

Christian holds multiple patents, developed the trademark protected RAPPtor® technology platform, and has authored multiple publications and book chapters.

He earned a Master of Science in Surface Science and Catalysis at the University of Liverpool and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Freiburg.
