Christian Witz completed his PhD in the group of Prof. Khinast at Graz University of Technology, specializing in multiphase reactor simulation using the lattice Boltzmann method. Following his doctorate, he founded the Computational Bioprocess Engineering group at the institute, focusing on the development, validation, and integration of highly efficient GPU-accelerated algorithms to simulate physical processes inside bioreactors and similar devices.
This in-house code base became the foundation for SimVantage, a spin-off that provides cloud-based simulation software and consulting services for stirred and aerated reactors. Recently, SimVantage was honored with Austria’s most prestigious award for applied research, the Houska Prize.
