Mary W. Rowe is a leading urban advocate with extensive experience working in cities across Canada and the U.S. She has held key roles in urban policy and civic engagement, including leading Ideas That Matter, supporting post-Katrina rebuilding efforts in New Orleans, and serving as Executive Vice President of the Municipal Art Society of New York.
As President and CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), Mary has expanded CUI’s impact, fostering collaboration across government, industry, and communities to address major urban challenges. Under her leadership, CUI has launched initiatives such as Bring Back Main Street, CityWatch, CityShare, Main Street Canada and CUI x Local to support city-building efforts nationwide.
A frequent speaker, media commentator, and thought leader, Mary also facilitates BiCEP, a network of senior urban executives, and is a Senior Fellow with Shorefast. She is the creator and host of CityTalk, a platform for dialogue on pressing urban issues.
