Matt Young is the Founder, President and CEO of Republic Developments, a Toronto-based real estate development firm he established in 2019 after more than a decade of industry experience. At Republic, Matt leads the strategic vision and oversees all aspects of the business, including project development, acquisitions, capital formation, human resources and organizational growth. Under his leadership, Republic has emerged as a dynamic city builder focused on residential and mixed-use communities that enrich the urban fabric of the Greater Toronto Area.

Over the span of his career, Matt has built a track record of disciplined execution and team leadership, managing the development of more than 15,000 residential units, representing approximately 12.2 million square feet of built space and over $13.5 billion in total development value. Prior to founding Republic, Matt served as Vice President of Development at Capital Developments, where he played a central role in scaling the company from an emerging builder into one of Toronto’s most respected development firms.

Matt’s development philosophy centers on creating vibrant, thoughtful communities that meet the needs of diverse residents. This approach—grounded in long-term urban planning principles and a deep respect for community context—has shaped Republic’s portfolio and its development processes.
